CyberEast opened for business in 1996 and was the first retail computer  venture of its parent company, Carolina Data Systems.  CDS, founded in 1987, is a statewide provider of networked back office and point-of-sale solutions to North Carolina's alcoholic beverage control boards.

CyberEast has built and sold hundreds of computers during its first few years.  While sales were driven by intensive "get out the word" newspaper advertising during the store's initial year of operation, regular customer traffic is now generated by referrals from previous patrons satisfied with their CyberEast computer purchase or service experience.

An authorized Microsoft® OEM system builder, CyberEast is gaining an increasing share of business from visitors who examine its profile and scrutinize its prices in person, by phone or on the world wide web at CyberEast.com.

In an added twist, the store's revenues from in-store and on-site services and repairs are growing.  Ironically, a significant portion of service income is derived from customers who purchased their machines from online mail order firms and national chain stores.

CyberEast is located in historic New Bern, NC, directly across Broad Street from the city's quaint downtown fire department, which until the recent past was the NBFD's headquarters.
